How to: Summer Sunset Eyes ~~ Patrine's Thoughts

Hello there!!

Summer is here! Are you excited? I decided to film a bright makeup look perfect for summer. But of course you have to use waterproof makeup if you decide to wear this while swimming. Haha!! Graduation and Prom is also near, so you can definitely sport this look as well.

In this tutorial I decided to use gold and pink because I feel like they look great together.  I don't have a bright pink lipstick so I used an eye shadow instead. In the video,it does not look so pink but when I took pictures, my lips looked pink.  I hope you check out my tutorial! :)

CHEAP FINDS PART 4: BACLARAN HAUL || Patrine's thoughts

Hello!!

I'm here for another haul. If you like to have your hair in a bun or if you like hair accessories like me, then I'm sure you'd be interested in today's haul/post.

I was able to buy these set of bow hair clips and cute teddy bear headbands for about P105 (approx US$2). They were so cute and adorable plus super cheap!! I bought them in Baclaran which is a popular place to buy accessories and clothes for much less.

At first, I thought they cost P55 each and so I thought I'd skip them but my sister asked the saleslady and they cost P55/6 pieces. I love wearing my hair in a bun so the thought of putting this in my bun immediately came to my mind.
It would have been better if they came with a band so that I can just tie my hair with this but its okay, I just used a normal elastic band to tie my hair then clipped the bow after.

Next are there headbands that I got for P50/6 pieces. They were actually six but I was only able take a picture of five of them. For someone like me who have long hair and does not mind wearing kiddie headbands, this is perfect!! They are sooooo girly and adorable.

Unlike other headbands that are too tight, it gives me a headache or too loose that's does not do anything to my hair, these headbands fit just right.

I like bargains and the fact that I was able to spend less on something that would have cost more. If you are visiting Baclaran, just make sure to wear comfy clothes and maybe just a small sling bag to fit your wallet. If you can skip bringing your cellphone, then do. :)

I hope you find this post useful/entertaining or whatever!! Please do comment below if you bought something cute from Baclaran or Divisoria!!

Thank you for reading my post, whoever you are!!

WetNWild Nail Polish Haul

Hello everyone!!

I'm so excited to share today's post! I'm here to share these WetnWild nail polishes that I recently bought. I just got them a couple of days ago. The reason why I'm so excited is because in the Philippines WetnWild nail polishes are little expensive. I think they are sold around 200-300 pesos (approx. US$5-7) per bottle. I got two of them  from an online store named Sophie J Fashion House and the other one I got from winning a bid ( also from the same seller).

I have been buying a lot of WetnWild products online because they cost cheaper (including shipping fee) compared to the prices in malls here. I think I got a good deal because all four of them cost me around P250 (approx US$6) including shipping fee.

I am not a nail polish person but I think it does look nice to have some color on your nails. What I like about these nail polishes is that the brushes are wide and flat so it is easy to apply the color (even for someone pasmado like me!) and dries fast.
 Name: Jewels for your highness
Its a purple glittery nail polish. I like that
it has small and big glitters. I used 2-3 coats to make it more opaque.

 Name: Milk
I used 2-3 coats to make it opaque. It dries fast and very easy to apply.

I did not like how it looks on all of  my nails  so I painted just one. I also had to use 2-3 coats to make it opaque.

This one was free.  I applied it on top the Milk and Twinning Vines. It does not change the color of the nail polish. It claims to glow in the dark and yes it does!!! Unfortunately I cannot capture it on camera. :(

How about you? Do you have any online purchases that was way cheaper than if you bought it in malls? Please do share it in the comments section below. :)

MY QUICK COURSE ON EVENING MAKE UP || Maquillage Professionnel

Hello everyone!!

Last month, I was lucky enough to win a voucher worth 2,800 from Maquillage Professionnel. It is located in Manila and I'm from Iloilo but fortunately, my sister and I have been planning to go to Manila for our mini birthday vacation. I called the number written in the voucher and chose February 19 at 10am for my appointment. I woke super early on that day. I remember feeling exited and a little worried at the same time because I don't know what's in store for me and I was feeling a little bit under the weather ( must be because of the weather!!). I was worried because I might sneeze accidentally or cough non stop. The address says that it is located in Shoppes at Belagio in Bonifacio Global City and since we were staying in Taguig, we were pretty confident that we will find the place in no time. Unfortunately, it took us about 30 minutes to find the place!! I was super late for my 10 am appointment!! But, the ladies there were so nice and told me that my quick course will start at 11 am and I will be taught by Mr. Mio. A nice person ushered me to the room and I waited there for about 15 minutes or so. I did not mind though, because I was late in the first place.

The room where I had my workshop/quick course is pretty spacious with lots of huge mirrors and it was air conditioned so I felt comfortable waiting. Oh! How I wish I brought a decent camera (I used my celphone's camera) and I should have taken a lot of pictures. I so regret not taking pictures of the makeup that they have! My gosh! It was a lot and mostly by Makeup forever!! I have never tried that brand and I'm so excited to use it.Mr Mio arrived and  started the quick course. He seems so nice and very talkative. I also learned that he spent 7 years in Capiz  I was not able to speak much because I somehow felt extra shy that day!Hahah!! I chose evening makeup and he gave me a list of basic things I need to consider when putting on makeup. He then proceeded to showing me how to do my makeup. He did the right side of my face and  I did the left side of my face. He taught me techniques on how to apply my foundation, eyebrows and eye shadow.
  • For those with dry skin (like me!) , it is better to use liquid based foundation with a dewy finish rather than matte.
  • Apply correcting concealer first before applying foundation.
    • orange: dark spots
    • purple: brown spots
    • green: red spots
  • Apply foundation by patting the foundation brush on the skin then blending it out using a sponge.
  • When using a loose powder to set the foundation, use a sponge to dab the loose powder  and use a face brush to sweep the excess powder.
  • When contouring, draw an imaginary diamond on the edge of your face. The outside of the diamond should be the area to contour.
I was glad to be able to experience something like this. I have learned a lot and I have realized that with the proper technique, I do not need to use a dozen of brushes when applying my makeup.( Mr. Mio only used two brushes for my eye makeup.)

With Mr. Mio! :)

CHEAP FINDS PART 2: CUTE STONE EARRINGS AND RINGS

 Hello everyone!!

As you can see from the title and the picture, this post is about some cute and cheap rings and earrings that I bought from the Fashion Market in Market Market. I don't wear a lot of rings but I recently got into them and so I wanted to expand my ring collection a little bit. I don't like shelling huge amount of money on them so when I asked the lady selling these rings how much they are, I was really surprised ans ended up buying five. :)
These rings cost P50 (approx. US$1.2) but since I bought four, I only paid  P160.00 (approx US$4) for all of them. I chose pink, blue,  green and black.
All of them are adjustable so then can fit my fingers well. The copper wires are thick enough and wrapped around the stone so the rings are quite sturdy.

The next ring I bought is also for P40.00 (US$1) and it is made of purple crystals. This one is not adjustable but it does fit my middle and index finger. Like the other rings, this ring is also quite sturdy.

The last thing that I got from Market Market is this cute pair of earrings. I do own a number of earrings so I limited myself from buying a lot of earrings but when I saw this, I fell in love with it instantly because I never had an orange earring before and this one looks exotic and perfect for summer. I got this for P40.00 as well. :)

So how about you? Please do share and comment down below if you have any cheap beauty buy  because I would love to see them too!!

CHEAP FINDS PART 1: ORGANIC SOAPS

 Hello everyone!!

My sister and I celebrated our 25th birthday last Sunday and so we decided to have a mini vacation in the NaTional Capital Region (Philippines).  We were staying in Taguig City and this is my first time here so we decided to go around and see what's in store for us in this city.

First on the list are these awesome organic soaps that we found while browsing around Market Market in Bonifacio Global City. There was a stall there that carries different kinds of organic soaps, from whitening to moisturizing to slimming soaps. Aside from that, you can choose whether you want to buy per bar of soap at P40.00 (less than $1) or you can choose to buy by chunks at P220.00 ($5-6) per kilogram. I prefer buying by chunks because I find it more economical and convenient. You can choose what kind of soap you want, have it weighed and pay for it. In my case I paid around P76.00 ( $1-2) and I got a lot of stuff. Unfortunately, I forgot the name of the store but just go to the Fashion Market at Market Market and you will find the stall there.

These are all I got for less than P100.00!!

Rosehip with cucumber
This one has a fresh, clean scent and if you have tried Lime soap from DLC, this smells exactly the same and that one cost more than P200 per bar.
Benefits of Rosehip:
-hydrates the skin
-prevents skin damage
-helps in fading scars
-prevents skin darkening
Benefits from Cucumber:
-heals and decreases redness
Rosemary Soap
Benefits:
-exfoliates
-stimulates skin cell renewal
- has a calming effect

Kojic Acid + Orange Soap
Benefits of Kojic Acid:
-diminishes skin darkness and redness (such as melasma and freckles)
Benefits of Orange Soap:
-detoxifies skin
-also has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties

Placenta Soap
Benefits:
-assists in renewing skin and reduces wrinkles
-lightens and fades skin pigmentation
-reduces appearance of pores

Chocolate Soap
This is my favorite!! I love the smell and it stays in my skin the whole day.
Benefits:
-good for skin renewal
-contains anti-oxidants  that help protect the skin from sun damage and premature aging

Blueberry with Shea butter soap
Benefits:
- have anti-aging properties
-promotes healthy skin and appearance
-reduces appearance of frown lines and wrinkles
- moisturizes skin and improves skin elasticity

I can't wait to use all these soaps. I am the kind of person who likes to use different soaps especially at night. So far, I have used the blueberry with shea butter and chocolate soaps and I love them so far. Please do tell me if you have tried using these soaps and what kind of soap do you like?

THE FACE SHOP: FACEiT CIRCLE FACE BRUSH

Hello everyone!!

When I went to Manila last year, my sister asked me to buy a certain brush from The Face Shop. I did buy it for her and I remember feeling so bad for myself because I should have bought two of them. I really liked the brush but we don't have The Face Shop store in Iloilo so I was not able to get one for myself. However, my sister recently gave me the brush so I was very happy and now, I would like to show you guys how great this brush is.

FACTS:

FACEiT CIRCLE FACE BRUSH
Brand: The Face Shop
Cost: P525  (around $8)
Made of: 100% Synthetic
Color: handle- graying black ferrule: black

Design: circle brush with 35 degree slant

SIZE: Approx 6 inches

* When I bought this, it came in a box along with an instructional leaflet that shows you how to use the  brush. Unfortunately, my sister could not find it anymore.

MY THOUGHTS

  • It is great for cream based products but can be used for liquid foundation or BB cream as well.
  • Buff the product using a circular motion.

  • After using with a liquid or cream foundation, make sure to wipe and clean the bristles then let it dry for a few minutes before using it with a powder.
  •  To set your foundation, gently dab the powder all over your face using this brush.
  • Because it is slightly slanted and small,  it is  versatile enough to be used for contouring the nose and cheeks as well.
      • To contour your nose, use the "pointy' tip of the brush and run along the sides of your nose.
      • To contour your cheeks, make a fishy face and sweep bronzer on the hollows of your cheeks. Blend using circular motions afterwards to make it look natural.
What I like:
  • light and not bulky
  • great for travelling
  • handle is strong and not cheap looking
  • does not streak, gives my face a close to flawless finish
  • does not bleed
  • feels soft and does not irritate my skin
  • ferrule is sturdy and strong
  • densely packed so grabs the product well
  • has a lot of uses ( applying foundation and contouring)
  • affordable
What I think others may not like:
  • the brush itself is small so it may take time to blend foundation all over your face
  • it takes time to dry
  • since it is densely packed, it is a little difficult to take off  products (especially cream based) from the bristles

Conclusion:

This brush is indeed small but terrible (amazingly terrible). It is very versatile and delivers great results. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a great yet affordable foundation brush. Whether you have lots of brushes or you don't have a lot, this brush is a definite must have!
